Catholic Church of the East
Archdiocese of Saint James the Apostle
Most Reverend
Ramzi R. Musallam, D.D., M.Div.
Archbishop
In the Catholic Church, a Bishop is ordained and holds the fullness of the sacrament of Holy Orders. He is responsible for teaching the Catholic faith and shepherding the Church. The office of Bishop traces its origin to the apostles, who were endowed with a special charism by the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. This special charism has been transmitted through an unbroken succession of Bishops by the laying on of hands in the sacrament of Holy Orders.
Archbishop Ramzi R. Musallam was born and raised in Jerusalem, Palestine and was educated in the United States. With loving encouragement from his family members and friends, he pursued seminary studies and priestly formation and was ordained to the Priesthood of Christ on April 14, 2004. On March 1, 2009, he was ordained a Catholic Bishop by the Igreja Catolica Apostolica Brasileira (ICAB-UK) and appointed Archbishop of the Catholic Church of the East, Archdiocese of Saint James the Apostle.
Archbishop Musallam leads the flock who are under his care. His vision for the Church is to welcome all Christians to Jesus through His One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. His love for the Church motivates him to educate the faithful on the teachings of the True Church and the importance of being Catholic and Apostolic. What makes us a True Catholic Church is that we adhere to the faith and to the Church's teachings as taught by the Catholic Church. This is our Faith. This is our Church. This is who we are.
