The Vicar General assists the Archbishop in coordinating the pastoral activities and ministries of the Archdiocese of Saint James the Apostle. Working closely with the Archbishop and other members of the archdiocesan staff, he assists the Archbishop in the fulfillment of pastoral goals and objectives.
Additionally, the Vicar General assists the Archbishop in his role as Trustee of the real property of the diocese and the parishes within the Archdiocese.

The Tribunal of the Archdiocese of Saint James the Apostle is established by Church law to assist the Archbishop in carrying out his judicial functions. The major portion of the work is directed toward the processing of petitions for annulment of marriages. Other judicial matters are handled at the request of the Archbishop. The structure and operation of the Tribunal is determined by Church law. A permanent staff is supplemented by additional priests and lay persons who assist in Tribunal work on a part-time basis.
