SAINT ANN'S CATHEDRAL - DIOCESE OF PENNSYLVANIA

TRIBUNAL OFFICE

The Tribunal serves at the ecclesiastical court for the Arabic Catholic Church and Archdiocese. The Archbishop is the Chief Judge of the Tribunal, but delegates his judicial authority to the Judicial Vicar who acts in his place. Our Tribunal has four Judges. There are four Defenders of the Bond who have a role in marriage cases. There is one Promoter of Justice, who acts like a District Attorney in criminal cases.
This Tribunal has competency to prosecute or to vindicate the rights of physical or juridical persons or to declare facts. It can also impose or declare penalties.

ANNULMENTS & MARITAL STATUS

The Tribunal's work involves persons who question their martial status. They want to know if they are free to marry in the Arabic Catholic Church. In these situations the Tribunal investigates the validity of that union as to whether a person is bound by marriage or is free to marry. This office help’s Catholics within the Arabic Catholic Diocese to return to the Sacraments of the Church.

The Tribunal also assists in preparing cases that must be decided by the Bishop of the Diocese. Tribunal personnel assist and advise the Bishop in other canonical matters which affect of the Arabic Catholic Church and Diocese.
If you have any questions in regard to the Tribunal or Annulments in the Church we ask that you may contact the Bishops office at
